About Road Safety Week
Road Safety Week is an event that can happen at national, local or organisational level, which raises awareness about road safety, and encourages everyone to take action to prevent casualties and make roads safer. It’s all about people working together to promote responsible road use and stop the suffering that results from road crashes, deaths and injuries.

Brake, the road safety charity, working in partnership with FUNDACIÓN MAPFRE, has developed this site as a global resource for anyone interested in organising a Road Safety Week in their country, locality or organisation. It shares the experience of Brake, organisers of Road Safety Week in the UK and New Zealand, and other Road Safety Week organisers. It provides advice and tools to help others wanting to set up a Road Safety Week or a similar event.
Our aim is to encourage more Road Safety Weeks to spring up around the world during the UN’s Decade of Action for Road Safety and beyond, and help more organisations, authorities and communities take action to improve road safety and prevent casualties.
About Brake
Brake is an independent road safety charity, originating in the UK and now with domestic operations in the UK and New Zealand, and working globally to promote action on road safety.
Brake exists to stop the needless deaths and serious injuries that happen on roads every day, make streets and communities safer for everyone, and care for families bereaved and injured in road crashes. Brake promotes road safety awareness, safe and sustainable road use and effective road safety policies through campaigns, community education, information for road safety practitioners and employers, and by coordinating awareness-raising road safety events like Road Safety Week. Brake provides support to families and individuals devastated by road death and serious injury, including through a helpline and support packs.
