What's the theme of this year's RSW?
You can choose to run a Road Safety Week event on any road safety issue relevant to you. However, every year Brake chooses a theme we promote through the media. We choose topics that are the biggest killers on our roads. The theme for Road Safety Week 2010 is:
Kids say SLOW DOWN
Every day in Britain 10 children and young people are killed or seriously injured while on foot and bicycles (6 young people aged 12-19 and 4 children aged 0-11). It’s a disgrace.
The slower we drive, the more chance we have to react and avoid hitting a child.
Britain needs to introduce widespread 20mph limits around homes, schools and shops, like on the continent and in Portsmouth and a few other cities in the UK.
Meanwhile, in Road Safety Week, kids will be calling on all drivers to remember that ‘20’s Plenty’ and slow down, even if the limit’s 30. You could save a life.
Why not run your own event on this theme too? Surf this website for tips on how to run your own event.
