What's the theme of this year's RSW?

You can choose to run a Road Safety Week event on any road safety issue relevant to you. However, every year Brake chooses a theme we promote through the media. We choose topics that are the biggest killers on our roads. The theme for Road Safety Week 2010 is: KIDS SAY SLOW DOWN!

Every day in Britain at least 8 children and young people are killed or seriously injured while on foot and bicycles (5 young people aged 12-19 and 3 children aged 0-11). It’s a disgrace.

If we drive under 20mph in towns, villages and around schools, the more chance we have to react and avoid hitting a child.

Britain needs to introduce widespread 20mph limits, like on the continent and in Portsmouth and a few other cities in the UK. 30mph is just too fast.

Meanwhile, in Road Safety Week, kids will be telling drivers that ‘20’s Plenty’. You could save a life by slowing down.
